💡

What will
happen?

Many women worry about this. Here is what you can expect.

You will be listened to — not judged
You will not be judged for your choices
You can choose what support you accept
You stay in control of your decisions
Your children can come with you
Your location will be kept completely secret
You do not need money to stay in a refuge
You are not wasting anyone's time. You deserve support.
💗 From Kseniya — Founder
"I moved between refuges three times after he found me. The staff protected us every single time. You are safer there than you think."
🎒

Your safety bag

Pack these if you can. Even a few minutes matters.

💡 Important to prepare:
Save important phone numbers under safe names in your phone
Keep copies of documents — a photo on your phone is okay
Have a code word with a trusted person
Plan where you can go — friend, family, police station, hospital
If you cannot prepare — that is okay. You can still leave and get help. Your safety matters more than anything you leave behind.
📄 Documents first
Passports — yours and children's
Birth certificates
Medicare cards
Any court orders or AVOs
Bank card or cash
💊 Medicine & essentials
Prescription medicine — at least 2 weeks supply
Phone and phone charger
Children's favourite toy or comfort item
Change of clothes for you and kids
💗 Kseniya's tip
"If you only have 60 seconds — grab passports, Medicare cards, and your phone. Everything else can be replaced. You cannot."

💛

It's okay to
not be ready.

Most women think about leaving many times before they go. That is completely normal. You can prepare quietly while you decide.

💡 Domestic violence is not only physical
Emotional abuse — put-downs, manipulation, intimidation
Financial control — restricting your access to money
Isolation — cutting you off from friends and family
Threats, fear, or controlling behaviour
If you feel afraid, controlled, or unsafe — it matters. You deserve support.
You do not have to decide today
You can prepare without him knowing
There is no right or wrong timeline
You know your situation better than anyone
Start preparing quietly:
1
Open a private bank account
In your name only. Start saving a small amount each week if you can.
2
Gather your documents secretly
Photograph your passport, birth certificates, Medicare cards. Keep copies somewhere safe.
3
Save the numbers you will need
1800RESPECT, Link2Home, Legal Aid — save them under a different name in your phone.
💗 Kseniya's tip
"I planned for months before I left. Every small thing I prepared made the actual leaving a little less terrifying. You are already being brave by being here."
